This work presents the evaluation of the chemical vegetable for the extraction of the active ingredient of paracetamol 500 mg tablets, with optimization of the process through the holistic metrics of Green Chemistry. The previous analysis, indicated as a possibility the substitution of acetone, conventionally used in this type of extraction, by ethanol. Yield calculations, identification tests, UV-Vis assay and energetic metrics were performed to verify the effectiveness of the results a priori glimpsed. The extraction with ethanol was effective, according to principles 5, 6, 7 and 10 of Green Chemistry, resulting in: solvent reduction and waste reduction, energy gain, and use of renewable and biodegradable solvent. Finally, this study allowed to relate the principles of Green Chemistry with teaching, contributing to a more conscious practice and possible to be implemented in areas such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, contributing to the training of these professionals from a new perspective.
