This article summarizes the author’s PhD thesis, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Alfredas Laurinavicius and defended on 7 December 2007 at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. Written in Lithuanian, the thesis is available from the author upon request. The first chapter describes the existing problem, the need for geotextile use for the separation of road and street structures. Research relevance, the scientific novelty and originality of the dissertation, and its aim and practical importance are also described. Chapter 2 presents geotextile selection method analysis for the separation of structural layers. The third chapter presents experimental research in geotextile use for the separation of roads and streets pavement structure layers. Finally, the fourth chapter presents the geotextile selection method for the use in the Lithuanian roads and streets pavement structures. The developed geotextile selection method reflects the need for geotextile use, and takes into consideration the factors having the impact on the occurrence of geotextile damages during pavement installation and in the course of road operation.
