This paper concerns multi‐attribute decision support methodology applied to analyze the impact of retail centres on the city as a complex system. Influence on the city is described as the sum of effects the retail centres give to the quality of life to the neighborhood and other city population, the work of city transportation system, architectural and urban perception of the city. The gamut of impact is estimated and numerical expression is obtained. Using it different alternative objects are compared. The task is described by many attributes. The main attributes are distinguished to measure the influence of retail centres on quality of life, the work of transportation system, on the economics and the architectural ‐ urban perception of the city. On the basis of expert judgment the weights of attributes are estimated. The normalization of the efficiency attributes is done using linear normalization method.
