Els orígens artístics d'Antoni Miró (Alcoi, 1944) se situen a les darreries dels anys seixanta. Una activitat constant des d'aleshores que l'ha portat a treballar en diverses disciplines artístiques com ara la pintura, l'escultura, la ceràmica, entre altres. Conscient de la projecció social de l'art, va emprendre, de manera paral·lela, la creació de cartells com un element de difusió de diverses activitats artístiques i com una mostra del seu compromís cívic amb la publicitació d'actes d'homenatge o de difusió. En el nostre article, hem analitzat diverses mostres de la producció cartellística de l'artista, tot referenciant la voluntat d'oferir una visibilitat clara de la cultura catalana en qualsevol de les seues manifestacions. Un treball minuciós i continu marcat per les referències cíviques, pel compromís social d'un artista que creu en la utilitat i en la capacitat de persuasió dels intel·lectuals. Miró usa l'art, i els cartells en són una bona mostra, com un exemple del seu inconformisme. A l'igual que altres artistes de la seua generació, que van nàixer després de la victòria franquista en la Guerra Civil, utilitza els referents històrics per transmetre els seus ideals; hi ha una voluntat de denúncia i alliçonadora d'uns fets sobre els quals es vol conscienciar l'espectador. És per això que podem confirmar la importància de la cartellística dins de la trajectòria creativa de Miró, dins d'un moviment col·lectiu, d'ençà la recuperació democràtica dels setanta, en benefici de la difusió de la cultura pròpia. L'artista presenta un posicionament ferm i decidit -alineat en postulats esquerrans i progressistes- dins d'un compromís cívic que sempre ha marcat la seua trajectòria artística.Ever since Antoni Miró (Alcoi, 1944) started his career in the late 1960s, his extensive artistic production led him to explore a wide range of fields, including painting, sculpture and pottery. For him, one of art’s functions is to serve society, and so in parallel to his regular production he also created posters meant to promote certain art-related events and to show his commitment towards celebrating and spreading culture. In this article we have analyzed several of Miró’s posters, where he clearly shows his interest in making Catalan culture known in all its shapes and forms. His detailed, continued work is marked by civic references and by the social committment of an artist who believes that intellectuals have the power to contribute to society and to persuade others. As we can clearly see in his posters, Miró uses art to show that he is an independent thinker. Like other artists from his generation (born after Franco won the Civil War), Miró uses historical references to express his beliefs. Art is his way to report a series of facts that he wants viewers to learn from and become fully aware of. For these reasons, posters played a key role in the artist’s creative production during the 1970s, back when Spain was going through democratic recovery. His contribution to this new era, marked by a proud defense of one’s own culture, was key. Miró has always stood up for his left-wing, progressive ideas with firm determination and openness, and civic commitment has been at the heart of his artistic career at all times
