Reproductive rights of women: reflecting attitudes and practices in a public hospital

The disregard and disrespect for sexual and reproductive rights allow for the imposition of norms and derogatory values by some health professionals. In view of this, the objective of this study was to investigate the perception of health professionals involved in care for women about the reproductive rights of women during the antepartum, childbirth and the puerperium in a Public Maternity Hospital of Joao Pessoa - PB. A descriptive study of qualitative approach performed with 42 professionals from a public maternity hospital. The content analysis resulted in two categories, the first with three sub-categories and the second with two subcategories. Through this study showed that women are more exposed to the model of technocratic assistance, which reinforces the loss of their role during the whole perinatal stage, being therefore necessary actions more effective for quality assistance and humanization.
