With the acceleration of the international trade increasingly displayed those problems which were caused by the different coding systems of the various nations. The effort to create a common world nomenclature has over a century history. The purpose was to set up such a nomenclature which avoids the difficulties comprised by the various coding systems. The aim of this study is to present one of the most important establisher of the international nomenclatures: the Geneva Nomenclature.
