Sensibilities the ecological discussion elicits cannot be measured only in relation to any possible preservation policies or in regard to the skill to respond adequately to the so-called “new global risks”. An example of it are the particular unscheduled derivations related to some groups that live in the “rural environment”, who have not necessarily adhered completely to the environmental policies thought out by governmental planners, research institutions or even NGO’s. In short, here lies a “creative appropriation” that cannot be easily anticipated. The objective of this article is reflecting on how this process of external interference has occurred in rural spaces, analyzing the ways thru which it has reshaped – through the imposition of moral values, legal rules and new ways of managing natural resources – the ways in which rural populations define and manage environment.
