The purpose of the study was to construct and develop validity evidence studies based on the internal structure and reliability of a self-efficacy assessment scale at work (Escala de Autoeficácia no Trabalho – EAE-T). 260 workers, from both public and private companies of some cities of the interior of the state of São Paulo, participated. The EAE-T scale presented 42 items; however, after a exploratory factorial analysis it was composed of 17 items (α = 0.90), grouped into three aspects: interpersonal labor relations (eight items and α = 0.89), work performance (four items and α = 0.78) and relationship with leadership (four items and α = 0.66). EAE-T revealed to be an adequate scale for the evaluation of self-efficacy at work; nevertheless, new studies on the effects of the confirmatory factorial analysis and studies to evidence other forms of validity for the instrument are needed.
