Chronic pain of oncologic origin is a symptom of great prevalence and causes vast damage to the patient, who is already experiencing great suffering related to the disease. For the treatment of this condition, the control and relief of pain is of great value, always based on the mechanisms of pain and the diagnosis of this painful syndrome, in search of therapeutic success. Thus, this study sought to analyze the prevalence of neuropathic pain (NP) in cancer patients in palliative care, in addition to evaluating therapeutic approaches in order to minimize the problems caused by cancer or cancer therapy. Methodology: An interview was conducted with patients undergoing cancer treatment through a semi-structured questionnaire in the period from November to December 2019. Results: 18 patients with advanced cancer disease, who are in palliative care and without any oncological therapeutic regimen. In the sample in question, 73% were female. It was found that 94% of patients say they feel pain. Of these, half claimed to achieve adequate analgesia. Neuropathic pain was more frequent in patients who have less pain control and symbolizes 33% of the patients in the sample. It is concluded that in patients with NP there is a difficulty in controlling pain even though being treated with opioids. The importance of multidisciplinary monitoring for patients in palliative care was emphatic, given the need to reduce symptoms resulting from oncological pathology.
