Accidents with biological materials have a significant prevalence among health professionals. Besides being able to transmit about 20 pathogens, they also cause psychic pain to the health professional. Objective: To evaluate the occurrence of accidents involving biological materials, correlating with the most affected professions and follow-up abandonment rates after these accidents in the municipality of Toledo / PR. Methodology: This is a quantitative and retrospective study with an observational approach. Results: A total of 1,094 accidents were reported between 2007 and 2019, of which 935 were female and 159 were male. There were 823 incidents among people between the ages of 18 and 39. The place where most reported accidents were hospitals and the year with the most incidents was 2015 (121). Final Considerations: Actions are needed to quantitatively reduce occupational accidents involving biological materials, for example using safety devices, associated with measures that reduce the abandonment of follow-up after the accident (awareness and active search of people who do not perform the accident. side dish).
