Rational use of medications requires users to use the appropriate medication for their clinical condition in doses that meet their individual health needs for an appropriate period and at the lowest cost to themselves and the community, so there is a need to the prescription of the medicine is carried out by a specialized professional. The present study had the objective of evaluating the origin of the proceeds of psychotropic avian influenza in a municipality of the West of Paraná in the year 2016, according to ordinance 344/98 of the Ministry of Health, as well as the medical specialty of its prescriber. This study was a descriptive, retrospective, uncontrolled cross-sectional study. Data were collected from a sample of all medical prescriptions (included in ordinance 344/98) held by the local sanitary surveillance. It was found that 78.7% of the income came from a General Clinic, 7.9% from Psychiatrist, 4.3% from Neurologist and 9.1% from other five medical specialties.
