The present work approaches the application of Participatory Design in the development of a digital dictation game, in which the main objective is to assist in the learning of writing and spelling. The methodology applied is a case study that is inserted in the field of research-action, due to its participative nature and because it promotes an intervention in a specific reality, in this case, two third-year-elementary-school groups, in a public school in Porto Alegre – RS/Brazil. In this work, activities that contemplated the construction , application and evolution of the game were carried out. The analyzes show the use of the game had repercussions on students’ motivation, engagement and collaboration. The results show students improved their learning regarding writing, in addition to demonstrating greater motivation to carry out the activities, persisting in the game until reaching the correct answer. There was also a greater engagement of students when perceiving themselves as part of the game, through the perception of their contributions. Keywords: Participatory design. Dictation. Digital game.
