An article of theoretical contribution on fundamentals of educational research agreed between the professionals that make up the faculty of researchers of the Master of Science in Education, VI edition, which is currently developed in the Graduate School of San Ignacio University, is presented. Loyola (Lima, Peru) with the collaboration of the Faculty of Education and the National Program of Scholarships and Educational Loans (Pronabec) of the Government of Peru. Theoretical criteria related to the teacher as a researcher of the educational reality, the scientific method, educational research and the dialectical and elective approach, the stages of the research process in the educational context and the results of the educational scientific research are exposed.
