The article deals with the main aspects of the modern transformations of the market economy, in which the services and the sphere of services occupy an increasingly prominent place. The focus is on the specifics and scope of the development of this sphere. Modern processes of globalization in the field of economics cause significant transformations in terms of patterns, the nature of such processes is clearly visible in the growth of services related to human consumption. It is pointed out that the phenomenon of consumption as a whole is actively explored in the XIX-XX century M. Veber, T. Vetlen, G. Zimmel. So Thorstein Veblen (Demonstration Consumption Theory) analyzes and explains consumer behavior as one that goes beyond borders by meeting basic needs and begins to serve primarily the growth of social prestige. German sociologist G. Zimmel, however, has put forward a number of key ideas from fashion theory, noting that it actually has a class character as a means of expressing and placing information about status. The economic activity on the market in the world, especially highly developed, is characterized by the fact that the most profitable goods are science, education, or everything related to knowledge. This is natural, because without the latest knowledge about scientific achievements, the latest, advanced technologies, organized technological processes, which make the market economy not only highly profitable, but really revolutionary, can not be created and implemented. The growth in the severity of the services, the service sector as a separate component of the market economy, have begun to explain various aspects of human activity in various ways in various ways. Thus, the new character of human relations in the field of labor has become the basis for the emergence of the theory of human capital, which proclaims the real need to invest in production, its material basis, but in human knowledge, skills and abilities.
