The present study is a field research carried out in a large company in the energy and telecommunications segment, located in São José dos Pinhais city in the state of Paraná, which presents the rates of waste and scrap above the mark of 2.5%. In view of this, the study aims to develop a proposal to reduce the rate of waste and scrap generated in the production process, and to measure the problem, the scrap rates for the period from February 2019 to January 2020 were raised. The collection of data and information took place through non-participative observation carried out during a visit to the company to understand the production processes, through documentary research to collect data, through brainstorming through which eight problem causes were identified. After analyzing each of the causes, five were prioritized, for which the action plan was prepared using the 5W2H. The solutions presented aim to eliminate the prioritized causes, and if the actions presented are applied, they will contribute to reduce the rate of waste and scrap generated in the production process and thus meet the goal determined by the company.
