The ideal suture, to be performed, should suit the properties of each type of yarns to the local needs of the wound, using easy-to-handle threads with good malleability and flexibility, which allow to make safe, resistant knots, causing less possible tissue reaction. Such characteristics are essential to reduce the risk of surgical complications. The use of study tools to assist practices in surgery optimizes the teaching-learning system. Objective: Creation of a study tool to assist practices in surgery through a framework of suture threads and needles, aiming to boost teaching in this area. Methods: This is a descriptive, qualitative study, using data obtained through a literature review regarding the ideal qualities of suture wires and their physical and biological characteristics, as well Brazilian Journal of health Review Braz. J. Hea. Rev., Curitiba, v. 3, n. 4, p. 8269-8278 jul./aug. 2020. ISSN 2595-6825 8272 as the needles. As a final product of the study, a framework of suture wires and needles was built, synthesizing the current knowledge, being also available for handling students, monitors and professors of the surgical skills disciplines of the UNIFAMAZ Medical course. Results: The studies related to Meaningful Learning corroborate the use of active learning methodologies so that the student acquires the knowledge necessary for clinical practice. Therefore, the framework created acts as a method of Meaningful Learning, synthesizing the current knowledge of medical literature related to surgical threads, with a language accessible to the academic environment and aims to facilitate didactics. Conclusion: It is concluded that the making of the board generates facilities for both the learning of students, as well as for the quality of teaching by teachers and monitors, in order to provide better interaction between theory and practice.
