The recent rebellions and crimes with cruelty refinements committed by prisoners at the Monte Cristo Agricultural Penitentiary (PAMC), in the State of Roraima, are presented as an object of research in the face of the crisis in the local prison system prior to the federal intervention in the respective Penitentiary. In a panoramic view, one sees the most common problems of the Brazilian prison system, such as overcrowding and installed crisis, in addition to an approach to legal provisions and international treaties that deal with the main rights of prisoners. Through the logical deductive method, based on doctrinal, jurisprudential and normative construction, the research addresses the rebellions that occurred in the PAMC, which indicate prison fragility, the emergence of criminal factions, in addition to the impacts resulting from Venezuelan migration in local prisons. Barbaries in committing crimes during the latest PAMC rebellions, mostly stemming from faction fights for power in the local prison, and the results of these rebellions are discussed. In view of the facts, it seeks to understand the role of the State in the face of the prison crisis and the measures of containment of rebellions and crimes in PAMC, by the local government. Thus, the present study lists possible proposals for resolving internal conflicts.
