Le mausolée de Marcus Rufius Catullus, curateur des Nautes du Rhône, à Gélignieux (Ain) - CIL XIII, 2494

Un dessin du début du XVIIIe siècle, un texte épigraphique fragmentaire et une enquête sur place ont permis de localiser précisément, d'identifier et de décrire un tombeau familial monumental. Situé au bord du Rhône en amont de Lyon, le mausolée fut bâti au début du IIIe siècle pour un curator nautarum rhodanicorum et sa famille. L'inscription prévoyait diverses prescriptions testamentaires qui lui donnèrent la forme d'un véritable cepotaphium.A free-hand drawing from the beginning of the XVIIIth century, a fragment of a latin epitaph associated to a local investigation have let us localize precisely and describe a monumental family roman tomb. Situated on the bank of the Rhône river above Lyon, the mausoleum was erected in the beginning of the 3rd century AC for a curator nautarum rhodanicorum and his family. The funerary inscription did make a will provision giving it the form of a real cepotaphium.Buisson André.
