Understanding the conceptions of the environment is important, as they influence the pedagogical approaches and strategies used in Environmental Education. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the conceptions of the Environment and Environmental Education of elementary school teachers. The research presents a qualitative and quantitative approach, with data from opinions, collected through a questionnaire. The study pointed out conceptions of the Environment, mostly naturalistic and anthropocentric. The conceptions of Environmental Education that are more traditional, conservationists and preservationists, are reflected pedagogical approaches that reinforce them.
