This paper includes a development of spectrophotometric method for the determination of metoclopramide.HCl. The method involves the diazotization of metoclopramide.HCl and coupling with pyridoxine. HCl, to form an intense orange colored, water-soluble and stable azo-dye which shows a maximum absorption at 470 nm. Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0.5-30 μg/ml metaclopramide. HCl with a molar absorptivity of 1.98*10 L.mol.cm, The average recovery is 99.27% and relative standard deviation of ± 0.124 to ± 0.778%. This method has been applied successfully to the determination of metoclopramide.HCl in pharmaceutical preparations.
