State of National Values in the Curricula of Islamic Education and Social Sciences for the Secondary Grade on the Light of Contemporary Challenges

This study aims at investigating the national values in the curriculua of social sciences and Islamic education for the secondary grade on the light of contemporary challenges. The researcher designed an instrument for the national values distributed into three values, namely, political, social, and economic. The analytical descriptive method was applied in this study while, the research community and its sample include Islamic education and social sciences textbooks for secondary grade which are taught in fourth, fifth, and sixth literary grades. The findings of this study show that economic and national values were considered the main values which were repeated (68) times with a percentage of 46.57%, followed by national political values with a total repetition of (30) in all textbooks with the percentage of 20.54%, then national social values were regarded as the third rank which counted (18) with a percentage of 12.32%. On the light of these findings, the researcher suggests to pay more attention on the national values which could not be identified clearly and try to utilize from the national values applied in this study.
