This paper checks the internal consistency of the battery Global Mobility testing and balance, motor development scale in students with Down Syndrome (DS), inserted in elementary school. The method of research is characterized as qualitative and quantitative study, field and without intervention, with exploratory and descriptive content combined. It has intuitive character and hypothetical-deductive origin. To this end participated in this survey six (6) students with Down syndrome, 3 (three) practitioners students swimming and three (3) students not practicing in Varginhense Foundation to Assist the Handicapped (FUVAE), inserted in elementary school, the city of Varginha. Aiming to evaluate the effect of swimming as a resource in motor development, through the movement of categories that were of movement and stability in practicing and non-practicing students with Down syndrome. For data collection were applied ten (10) tests, and six (6) global motor skills tests and four (4) balance tests, with three (3) attempts for 90 seconds. In general, according to the results of engines affected by children with Down syndrome, swimming as proposed feature for motor development promotes a more methodology for effective practice of skills proposed within the levels engines shown in practitioners students than students not practicing.
