The dance can provide improvement in balance and reduce the risk of falls in older adults, however, no reports were found on the effect of senior dance in hemiparetic patients after stroke. Objective: To evaluate the static and dynamic balance and fear of falling in hemiparetic subjects, before and after therapy with senior dance. Methods: We evaluated the functional balance (Berg Scale) and static (force platform), and fear of falling (FES-I-Brazil), of six hemiparetic before and after therapy with dance, which lasted three months, twice / week, one hour, totaling 24 sessions. The statistical analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The scores anterior posterior displacement of the force platform were lower after treatment (p = 0.02), however, no statistically significant for mediolateral displacement (p = 0.24), as to balance performance and fear of falling, we can observe a statistically significant difference in the scores of both questionnaires before and after therapy with the senior dance, p = 0, 02 and p = 0.03, respectively. Conclusion: The Senior Dance was effective for reduction of anterior-posterior, to improve functional balance and decreased fear of falling, thereby contributing to improving the balance of hemiparesis after stroke.
