Religiousness for people living with HIV/AIDS: study of social representations Introduction: Religiousness consists in support daily confrontations related to human existence and subjectivated by living with a chronic and stigmatized condition. Objective: To analyze the social representations of religiousness for people living with HIV/Aids (PLWHA). Methods: This is a descriptive and qualitative study, guided by the central core theory of social representations. A total of 165 PLWHA attended the specialized outpatient clinic of a university hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro participated in this study. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the technique of free evocation to the inducer religiosity were used. Data were processed respectively by softwares Excel and EVOC, which generated the four-house board. Results: Most participants (61.8%) are male, with a complete elementary education (47.9%), 38.2% are Catholic, 24.9% Spiritualists, 20% Protestants and 17,6% without religion. Concerning to central nucleus are the words faith, God and believe; and in the peripheral system elements related to religiosity practice. PLWHA represent religiosity as the exercise of faith through a transcendent entity, a religious institution, the belief and the reflection of this dimension to give a new meaning for their condition. Conclusion: Religiosity occupies a space of belief/practice for them. Key-words: psychology, social, religion, HIV. Resumen La religiosidad para las personas que viven con el VIH/SIDA: un estudio de las representaciones sociales Introducción: La religiosidad consiste en el apoyo de enfrentamientos cotidianos de la existencia humana y subjetivados por la convivencia con una condición crónica y estigmatizada. Objetivo: Analizar las representaciones sociales de la religiosidad para las personas que viven con el VIH/SIDA (PVVS). Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, cualitativo, a la luz de las representaciones sociales. Participaron 165 PVVS atendidas en el ambulatorio especializado de un hospital universitario del municipio de Río de Janeiro. Se utilizó un cuestionario sociodemográfico y la técnica de evocación libre al inductor religiosidad. Los datos fueron tratados y posibilitaron la construcción del cuadro de cuatro casas. Resultados: La mayoría de los participantes (61,8%) es del sexo masculino, con enseñanza fundamental completa (47,9%), 38,2% son católicas, 24,9% espíritas / espiritualistas, 20% protestantes y 17,6 % sin religión. En el núcleo central figuran las palabras fe, Dios y creer; y en el sistema periférico elementos de la práctica de la religiosidad. Las PVVS representan la religiosidad como ejercicio de la fe para resignificar su condición. Conclusión: Religiosidad ocupa un espacio de creencia / práctica para ellas.
