The knowledge of a sample of male population in men health comprehensive attention national policy: nursing intervention Introduction: The Men Health Comprehensive Attention National Policy project was created having as its main objective providing assistance to men’s health, improving their mobility, decreasing mortality rates as well as helping with sociocultural aspects. Men’s effective participation in this project can show significant positive outcomes in the promotion of their heath, which will in turn affect society as a whole. Objectives: This studu aimed to evaluate the knowledge and the reasons for the lack of adherence to the PNAISH, using a sample of the male population from the city of Manaus as well as to recognize the nurse’s participation in this project and to identify both the individual and the collective needs of the population. Methods: This was a quali-quantitative study based on an interview of 120 men, 20 to 59 years old, users of municipal squares in Manaus. A questionnaire was used to carry out the interviews and the results were turned into numbers in order to provide a more accurate analysis of the information. Results: Regarding the main problems posing as an obstacle to having access to preventive health services, the highest percentage was in terms of the delay in being seen in health units (31,3%), followed by difficulties related to work (25,2%). Among those who were interviewed, 90% declared that they have not yet received a visit by health professionals to inform them about the project and 79,2% declared having no knowledge about the project. There is also an indication that men, as a majority, seek treatment in health units when they are already ill, as the concept of disease prevention is not a priority among them. Conclusion: It has been verified the need for a better structure in attending this population by health professionals, especially by nurses, as a way to efficiently deal with the needs of the male population in terms of health as well as to reduce the percentage of morbimortality related to poor health conditions.
