Due to its anatomical characteristics, the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee is one of the most vulnerable structures, and, therefore, the likelihood of suffering injuries is higher. In sports, this injury could represent 50-60% of the total number of injuries needing surgery. Although nowadays there are many preventive efforts as well as several different surgical techniques, it is still difficult to decrease the rupture incidence rate. The successful rehabilitation program focuses on the preparation of patient and knee before the surgery takes place, the quickest possible post-surgical restoration of the flexion-extension and, finally, the accelerated rehabilitation of stabilization and dynamic control of the joint. The latter aspect is essential to recover the normal functioning of the joint and to be able to successfully return the patient to the sports activity.
