Despite widespread use, current methods of treatment for cardiac arrest in many settings yield poor results. Historically, adrenaline has been used for decades as a primary pharmacological agent in the treatment of cardiac arrest. The drug is still used today, although a lack of tangible evidence pertaining to its benefit exists. In fact, the use of adrenaline, is supported only by animal studies and anecdotal case reports.
