SUMMARY I INTRODUCTION In spite of a commendable 40 percent reduction in the maternal mortality ratio over the last decade to 194 per 100,000 live births in 2010, improving maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) care remains a key development priority given the high inequality that persists between the richest and the poorest quintiles in Bangladesh.
