Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) is a dual cadre Community Health Worker (CHW) service delivery model improving basic health care access for rural communities in Ghana. CHPS utilizes two cadres of workers mid-level providers called Community Health Officers (CHOs) operating from Community Health Compounds (CHCs) which are small service delivery posts and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) who support CHOs with community mobilization activities. This study conducted a diagnostic appraisal of delivering family planning (FP) services using the CHPS model and recommends interventions and strategies for addressing identified gaps strengthening the model and thereby increasing FP service access. The study employed a desk review; 28 in-depth interviews (IDIs) with key stakeholders at national regional district and community levels; and 10 focus group discussions (FGDs) with on average eight participants each with CHOs women aged 15-49 and men in partnered relationships.
