On the economic and synecological significance of sustainability (essay) Today's concept of sustainability in forestry has roots in both economics and synecology. It shows the way, at the national and global levels to management in perpetuity of natural resources through sustainable use and, in general, for management of the natural foundations of life on our planet. Thus the concept has high philosophical significance, especially for environmental ethics.
