The correlation of several properties published in the technical literature and the influence of their structure was investigated for 103 wood species. A good correlation exists between the density and the physical-mechanical properties. To illustrate the investigation the significant divergency of some wood species from the general tendency (for example impact strength or swelling) is described and attributed to particular wood structures.
