The occurrence of stands of box, which originally grew in many areas, was reduced in Turkey due to anthropogenic influences. In order to enhance our scientific knowledge of this species we carried out ecological, biological and silvicultural examinations. Following these examinations, we were able to assign box into K strategic class and using the knowledge gained we worked out the prerequisites for the realisation of nature conservation and tending measures.
