Digitizing of document corpora makes it possible today to compare a large variety of documents (texts, photographs, videos, sounds, drawings...). The characteristics of a digital documentcollection can't thus be founded on the formal description of documentscomposingit. It is then necessary to find some common dimensions for each type of collection. Through these dimensions of description, the document will be able to evolve with the annotations made by readers and to offer a better reading thanks to the links which will be established with its context. Into the framework of digital libraries for archaeology, the concept of archaeological time, which is very complex and methodical, constitutes one of these dimensions ready to become the support of a "dynamic writing" between documents. Then temporal descriptors are not any more simple tools of indexing but also can, within the framework of specialized tools, allow the description of new knowledge and enrich the corpus.
