EnglishTraditionally, mirror-imaging has been considered as a cultural phenomenon that affects both the intelligence analysis and the decision-making process. This perspective often puts aside the psychological aspects of the phenomenon and restricts its study to the analysis of its influence on numerous failures and errors as well as its important consequences for the security and stability of the Western world. In this article I start considering the mirror-imaging as a cognitive bias that affects the interpretation and analysis of information. This allows to analyse, from a psychological point of view, its mechanism of action, its traits and defining characteristics, as well as its etiology and the influence that certain factors have in its appearance. This psychological approach also allows a holistic approach to the prevention of the mirror-imaging, focusing not only on the improvement of the technical aspects of the analytical process, but especially on the promotion of the acquisition and application of personal skills and abilities to the intelligence analysis.
