The Cloud author has long been recognized as one of the finest prose writers in the English language. Yet because of his subject matter --spiritual guidance -- and the seeming difficulty of his theology and meta-physics, he is not widely known or read. This paper will attempt to make the Cloud author more comprehensible and accessible by describing his meta-physics, a task which has heretofore been neglected.
