A twenty-five minute excerpt of The Preposterous Posthumous Predicament of Paulie Peel was presented as a staged concert as part of REFRAMED, a partnership between The Musical Stage Company (formerly Acting Up Stage) and The Art Gallery of Ontario. Writers Julie Tepperman (book) and Kevin Wong (music & lyrics) were invited by Mitchell Marcus, Artistic & Managing Director of The Musical Stage Company, to develop a new musical in response to a painting from the AGO’s collection. They chose The Young Biologist by Paul Peel. The staged concert was performed directly under the painting in the Richard Barry Fudger Memorial Gallery, 12-17 April 2016. Included in this issue of Canadian Theatre Review are the script for the twenty-five minute excerpt and the sheet music for two songs.
