Dr. A. E. Cowdrey begins his assault on Other Losses [CBMH, 7 (1990): 187–911] by citing Brigadier-General Stanhope Bayne-Jones to prove that there were no mass deaths in the U.S. camps. If Dr. Cowdrey will consult the new Canadian paperback edition of Other Losses, or the U.S. edition, both due in May, he will see there the proof that Bayne-Jones reported incorrect information about death rates, about numbers of deaths from diseases of the prisoners in 1945, and omitted information in his possession that would have enabled his readers to work out the true death rates.
