An English-language bibliography of classical Greek medicine.

The merit of a bibliography lies not in its originality, but in its utility. Thus, readers should be satisfied to find the present list useful: its 300 entries embrace the majority of the standard and recent scholarly literature in English about classical Greek medicine. Appended is a short section containing selected sources in French, German, Spanish, and Italian, all of which include extensive bibliographies of their own, as, by the way, do many of the works cited in the main bibliography; for example, Drabkin (1942); Harris (1973); Leitner (1973); Lloyd (1983); Lonie (1981); Sarton (1927); Smith (1979); and Temkin (1967).
