It is well known that the genus of a strange attractor changes if the control parameters of the dynamical system are modified. It is shown that the genus of strange attractors may also depend on the order of the system and that such changes generate different strange attractors. In this work, low-dimensional topological tools are applied in order to know the genus of a strange attractor.
