Preferensi Pohon Bagi Burung di Kawasan Restorasi Resort Sei Betung Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser Sumatera Utara

Researh about tree preference of bird at Sei Betung Resort restoration area Gunung Leuser National Park North Sumatera was conducted in January to March 2017. This research aims to determine the type of restoration’s tree most visited by birds, dominant activity of birds, and factors that influence the presence of birds in trees at Sei Betung Resort restoration area. This study use Explorative Survey method, using binocular, digital camera and book of birds identification. Bird watching was done in the morning and evening day. The result found that there are 5 species of restoration trees most visited by birds, that are Vitex pubescens, Phyllanthus sp, Calicarpa pentandra, Callerya artropurpurea, and Macaranga indica. Vitex pubescens is the most visited tree by birds with 73 times visit. Phyllanthus sp is the tree with the second most visited by birds with 51 times visit. Macaranga indica, Calicarpa pentandra, and Callerya atropurpurea, respectively 30, 28 and 26 times visits. Bird’s dominant activity is transit. The affecting factors of birds presence rate in trees are the availability of feed, canopy condition, canopy height, branch size and foliage dense.
