An enriched notion of rationality, incorporating practical reason as a rational extension and necessary complement to technical rationality, would help to reorient agriculture on a more sustainable course. Strengthened professional practice would recognize the normative core of both theoretical and practical rationality and the value of contextually-sophisticated boundary critique.
