Citation analysis has played a critical role in the hard and social sciences for decades.  Where has it been in the humanities?  This essay provides a brief introduction providing an overwiew of citation analysis, its critical role in scholarship, a look at how it can play a role in theology, religion, and philosophy, and some suggestions as to roles that citation analysis can play in the future of these areas of study.
