The relationship between coping with extreme risks and symptoms of post-traumatic stress in children who experienced the earthquake in Mexico of 2017 was examined. One month after the event 178 children between 11 and 15 years of age (Mean = 12.90, SD= 1.05) from the municipality of Malinalco in the South of the State of Mexico were evaluated, with coping scales facing extreme risks and symptoms of the disorder of stress (PTSD). The results showed high scores in PTSD, especially in girls. The hypothesis of a relationship between both variables is confirmed. It is suggested to analyze the resilient ability with respect to the exposure to this type of natural disasters, and carry out follow-up studies.
