Diabetes mellitus (DM), is a most common problem ar ound the world & contributes to the development of different types of complicati ons due to various pathological changes like change in thickening of capillary basement membran e, i crease in vessel wall matrix and cellular proliferation. Diab etes mellitus represents a strong independent risk factor for stroke. The current re view is an attempt to summarize the possible mechanisms that has been associated with i ncreased risk of stroke due to diabetes mellitus.
