Results of an investigation on professional motivations in fourth and fifth year psychology students are presented. The referential framework was the Carrera Anchor and the Life Project. An incidental sample of 46 students from two Venezuelan universities (public and private) was selected during the 2018-2019 academic period. To determine the reliability of the instrument on “Race Anchors”, the Crombach Alpha statistic was used, which yielded an alpha equal to 0.80, which indicates high reliability. The Career Anchors were related to the Life Projects of these students. The results showed as the main and determining "Career Anchor" the "Service", associated with the interest to help others, achieve moral fulfillment and selflessly render social service. The “Career Anchor” least valued by both groups was “Managerial”, which indicates that the participants do not show interest in developing an ascending or successful career within an organization, leading people or occupying positions of power. In reference to the Life Project, the students expressed interest in working to help others. Clinical Psychology was the area most chosen for postgraduate studies and professional practice.
