Taylor (2007 4:2 SCRIPT-ed 233) attacked a "full-scale tilt into unrestricted Open Access". In this current article the premise that Green OA (self-archiving in a repository by the academic author(s)) would undermine scholarly publication is refuted, and the economic arguments of Taylor demolished by reference to the Broken Window fallacy. It is argued that not only is Green OA long overdue but that self-archiving should be a categorical imperative for academics.
