The information society has had a major impact on the activities of traditional archives. The prediction of the "paperless office" in the eighties has not materialized as yet and in fact the amount of paper has increased substantially over the past decade. Rather than reduce paper, the introduction of computer technology has increased the number of products and copies of those products.
