Public Data In Use: A Case Study of Ireland

This paper is concerned with the policy issues which arise in enabling the public data which are most useful for research purposes to be disseminated in a timely fashion. Case study material from Ireland is drawn on, outlining problems which have arisen in identifying and in meeting the needs of users, and the extent to which it is possible to meet the requirements at a lime when there is no prospect of an increase in real Government expenditure on the provision of statistics.
