Gas narcosis impairs divers when diving deeper. Pupillometry is sensitive to alcohol intoxication and it has been used in anaesthesia to assess nitrous oxide narcosis. It is a potential novel method to quantify narcosis in diving. The aim of this study was to evaluate pupillometry for objective measurement of narcosis during exposure to hyperbaric air or nitrous oxide.
