Aspectos Geológicos-Geomorfológicos Relacionados aos Processos Erosivos no Município de Chaves, na Ilha de Marajó ( Geological-Geomorphological Aspects Related to Erosion Processes in the city of Chaves, Island of Marajó)

Processos erosivos tem se mostrado ao longo do tempo como eficazes modificadores da 'paisagem. No entanto, o pouco conhecimento de suas causas tem dificultado bastante o melhor entendimento das intensidades e periodicidade de suas atuacoes, bem como de seus danos. A meta principal desta abordagem e o reconhecimento e entendimento dos agentes erosivos atuantes no caso, buscando discutir e sugerir formas que permitam uma melhor coexistencia do homem com esses inevitaveis processos da natureza. Assim, o trabalho apresenta primeiramente uma analise sobre os varios aspectos que compoem a fisiografia marajoara, incluindo observacoes de campo e de registros historicos, os quais auxiliaram na identificacao dos principais fatores atuantes no processo erosivo e na quantificacao da evolucao temporal do processo. Erosive processes are known as effective modifiers of the landscape along the time. However, the poor knowledge of their causes difficulties the adequate understanding of the intensities and periodicity of their performances, as well as of the resultant damages. The main goal here is to recognize and understand the erosive agents, aiming to discuss and suggest forms to improve better coexistence of human being with those inevitable nature processes. Thus, this paper presents an analysis on the several aspects that compose the Marajo Island physiography, with support of field observations and historical registrations, which aided in the identification of the main factors causing erosive process and in the quantification of its temporary evolution.
